What’s on your school wishlist?

Hey caregivers, I hope life with your little(s) is treating you well!

Are you currently searching for or deciding on a Kindergarten school placement for your little one? I am; we are currently deciding between our neighborhood school or a private Catholic school. Kindergarten has changed so much from when we were kids but, it is such a pivotal grade. School websites look great and make each one sound like AMAZING places. But nothing beats seeing it live and in person! So before I finish my registration forms, I'm scheduling some tours with my wish list in mind and questions jotted down.

Here's my wishlist and how I'll form them into questions during my tours:

1. A diverse population and culturally relevant teaching

   1. How does the school affirm student identities and teach them to be global citizens?

2. A strong belief in various forms of play

   1. How often do students engage in play indoors and outdoors?

3. Sparingly assessed

   1. How often are students formally assessed? What is the purpose of the assessments?

4. Strong academic support

   1. Does the school provide/offer tutoring or intervention services if students fall behind?

5. Various specials & extracurricular activities

   1. Which special classes do students participate in? What extracurricular activities are offered?
